CALERA—The Shelby Stompers 4-H dance class, held every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Roy Downs Memorial Calera Library is a “free class run by the 4-H center,” according to Rhonda Cracraft, who works in the children’s department of the library.

The class is a line-dancing class, which encompasses a variety of dance styles.

The students are a “pretty diverse group,” made up of approximately half boys and half girls, Cracraft said. The instructors also teach dance etiquette during the class, which lasts for about an hour.

The class typically holds anywhere from 20 to 35 kids, and “anyone can come at any point,” according to Cracraft.

It is requested for participants to at least be in 1st grade, but there is not age limit for the class.

“We have moms who dance,” Cracraft said.
