The Helena 6U All-Stars placed third in the USSSA state championship and were awarded the Best Sportsmanship Award, selected and given by the umpires, June 28 in Thorsby, AL. Players include: Addison Keith, Addison Duckett, Natalee Matta, Carlynn Wilkes. Middle row: Addison Draiss, Marley Wilkes, October Bowman, Henley Traywick, Hayden Traywick, Caroline Crooks and Emma Frye. The coaches are: Greg Bowman, Brian Wilkes, Daniel Traywick and Teddy Frye.

University of Montevallo baseball alumni Will Fulmer and Devon Davis recently earned promotions in the first month with their respective professional baseball organizations.

Fulmer, drafted by the New York Mets in the 22nd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, was called up to the Mets’ Class A short season affiliate in the New York-Penn League, the Brooklyn Cyclones in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Davis, who signed with the Chicago White Sox as an undrafted free agent, moved up to join the Great Falls Voyagers, the White Sox’ Rookie affiliate in Great Falls, Montana in the Pioneer League.
