Shelby County athletes taking stage at AHSAA All-Star Week

Several athletes from across Shelby County are participating in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s All-Star Week, held in Montgomery. The week features the top players in the state in AHSAA competition in football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball and baseball. They are as follows:

FOOTBALL

Collier Smith of Briarwood was selected for the North squad in the pigskin contest as a linebacker.

VOLLEYBALL 

Thompson’s Kelsea Bivins was selected as an outside hitter for the South team.

– Pelham head coach Perry Robinson was selected in the same role for the South team.

BASKETBALL

– Victoria Baldwin of Spain Park was chosen for the North All-Star team in the girls’ contest.

SOCCER

– In the boys contest, Josh Bartlett of Chelsea, Austin Bowen of Pelham and Clay McDonald of Oak Mountain made the North squad.

– In the girls’ contest, Emma Cox of Spain Park, Kate Denney of Oak Mountain and Hannah Hutson of Briarwood were selected for the North team.

SOFTBALL

– In the girls contest, M.K. Bonamy of Spain Park was selected to the North team, while Oak Mountain’s Madeline Porter was chosen for the South team.

BASEBALL

– Thompson’s Stephan Poplin was selected for the North squad as a pitcher, and Oak Mountain’s Joseph McCormick also made the North team, selected as an outfielder.
