Freda Cooper, of Shelby, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014. Freda was raised in Centreville and was a top floral designer in Tuscaloosa for many years. Her home at Lay Lake was her happy place, where she thoroughly enjoyed life, nature and pulling for Auburn and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Freda was a tough ol’ broad, but at the same time a loving mother, Big Mama and friend. She will be missed but, as she always said, “a lady knows when to leave.” Arrangements for a local celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by one son: Steve Hayes (Judy); two daughters: Aprille R. Hayes and Kristy C. Eychner (Brett); one sister: Betty Jean Osborne (Jack); one brother: W.D. Tucker (Janice); grandchildren, Katy H. Shelby (Brad), Douglas Hayes (Cayla), Cote Eychner and Brette Ashton Eychner; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan Shelby and Eli and Layla Grace Hayes; and numerous other family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research. Please sign online condolences at Boltonfuneralhome.com.
