CALERA—American Family Care opened a clinic in Calera on July 28, and business has “been going pretty good,” according to Felicia Fortune, director of marketing for American Family Care.

The ribbon cutting for the new facility will be held on August 7 at 11:30 a.m., with food, door prizes and tours of the facility.

The clinic is “designed, equipped and staffed to provide accessible primary care, urgent care, minor emergency treatment and occupational medicine. It has a high-tech, high touch, digital x-ray, minor trauma and procedure room, onsite lab testing, state of the art diagnostics and EMR (Electronic Medical Records),” according to a news release from the organization.

The clinic operates seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

The clinic also hosts a U-Save Pharmacy, which is open to the public seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The clinic will be a “one stop shop,” where patients can “see the doctor and get a prescription filled before you leave,” Fortune said.

The clinic takes “all major insurances,” and for those who do not have insurance there is a “flat fee of $155 to see the doctor,” Fortune said.

There two full-time physicians on staff at the American Family Care in Calera, which seeks to bring health care close to the community.

“We bring quality, accessible primary care close to home, no appointment necessary,” Fortune said.
