PELHAM—The Pelham Police Department is still investigating the death of a man at Speed South, Pelham Police Deputy Chief Larry Palmer confirmed during an Aug. 7 phone call.

Police responded to a call regarding an “unresponsive person” at 126 Corporate Way in Pelham in the morning of Aug. 5, Palmer said.

“When we arrived, we found a gentleman deceased,” Palmer said.

According to the Pelham Police Department, the death appears to be medical-health related.

“Everything has indicated the gentleman may have had some health problems,” Palmer said, adding “foul play” seems unlikely.

“It doesn’t seem as anything out of the norm, no foul play in other words, nothing suspicious,” Palmer said. “There’s nothing to make us believe that anything suspicious or any crime was committed… we believe it was something medical.”

However, nothing can be ruled out until the toxicology report comes back, which could take some time because “the state is backlogged,” Palmer said.

“(It is) still an open investigation,” Palmer said. “(We’re) holding on to everything until we have those tox(icology) reports from the state.”
