PELHAM—A Chicago man was arrested by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force on Aug. 2 at Oak Mountain Amphitheater and charged with distribution of marijuana, possession of ecstasy and resisting arrest.

Michael Daniel Dowling, 26, was apprehended at 1000 Amphitheater Drive in Pelham. According to court documents, Dowling “did…unlawfully possess a controlled substance…ecstasy” and “did… unlawfully sell, furnish, give away, deliver or distribute… marijuana.” Additionally, court documents state Dowling “did intentionally prevent or attempt to prevent” his arrest, resulting in the charge of resisting arrest.

The arrest coincided with an Aug. 2 concert by rock band Phish at the Oak Mountain Amphitheater.

Dowling was placed in the Shelby County Jail under a $5,500 bond, and released after meeting bail the same day.

Distribution of a controlled substance is a Class B felony, possession of a controlled substance is a Class C felony and resisting arrest is a Class B misdemeanor. If found guilty of all three charges, Dowling could face up to 30 years and six months in prison.

Dowling is scheduled to appear in front of Judge Dan Reeves for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 27.
