ALABASTER – Emergency crews airlifted a woman to UAB Hospital with non life-threatening injuries after her car overturned on Thompson Road on Aug. 5, according to the Alabaster Police Department.

The wreck happened at about 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of Thompson Road and Southwind Drive, and closed Thompson Road for about two hours while crews cleared the wreck and transported the victim.

“A woman from out of town was leaving a friend’s house and lost control of the vehicle. She overcorrected and the vehicle overturned,” said Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney.

The Alabaster police and fire departments closed Thompson Road for a couple of hours while they worked to extract the woman from the overturned vehicle.

Once the victim was removed from the vehicle, she was transported by helicopter to UAB Hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. All roads were reopened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, according to the police department.
