PELHAM — The Ballantrae Gold Club held its annual Ballantrae Club Championship Aug. 2-3. The match featured golfers from various age and experience groups, each competing in different flights across the two days. The Championship — and the club — celebrated its 10^th anniversary this year, and with it came an intense field of club members vying to take home a title.

The event featured four different categories, with club members being placed in a championship flight, senior flight, women’s division or junior division. The tournament was open to any club member with an established golf handicap, and was designed to give members the chance to play stiffer competition in a championship setting.

In the junior flight category, Bill Melton took home the junior club championship. He shot a 212 through the two-day event.

In the women’s category, Debbie Atchley took home the women’s club and the championship with a gross score of 155. Marie Roberts captured the net score first place with a two-day total of 147.

Tom Rosdick captured the senior club championship with a gross score of 151. Ed Bullock finished in the runner-up position one stroke back with a score of 152, while Dick Limbach came home third with a score of 160. In the net score category, Bob Duckworth captured first place with a score of 137. Vern Hydorn took second via scorecard playoff after he and Jim Owens tied at 142.

Dennis Smith took the first flight award with a score of 154, while Greg Graves finished three strokes back in second and Hugh Marion took third with a score of 160. The net score top three saw Randy Dixon take first with a 136, Joe Agee take second with a 143 and Tony West finish third with a 144.

The championship flight saw Bruce Lemon take the club championship with a gross score of 148. Lemon took the title over Braxton Holley who shot a 151. Tom Bullington and Jeff Smith finished tied for third with 156.

In addition to the champions crowned, the event was notable for featuring a hole in one in the opening round. Mike Treadwell sunk a tee shot on hole three of the course to provide the lone ace of the tournament.
