COLUMBIANA—A McCalla man arrested for allegedly making terrorist threats at a Pelham McDonald’s in 2012 is scheduled to be tried on the felony charge on Sept. 15, 2014.

Phillip Edward Mayo, 36, was arrested by McCalla police in August 2012, after allegedly threatening to kill everyone in a McDonald’s restaurant on Pelham Parkway.

Mayo was indicted by a Grand Jury on Feb. 28, 2013, on the charge of making a terrorist threat. According to the indictment, Mayo allegedly told McDonald’s manager Stephen Rosato “he was going to come back to McDonald’s and kill everyone there starting with Mr. Rosato.”

According to court documents filed in July, Mayo’s trial is scheduled to begin on Sept. 15, and he will have an opportunity to enter a plea before the trial begins on Sept. 2.

Making terrorist threats is a Class C felony. If convicted, Mayo could face up to 10 years in prison.
