PELHAM—Harbor Freight Tools is coming to Pelham, Building Official Bob Miller confirmed. The tool store has submitted plans and will be opening a new location at the old Mi-Pueblo Supermarket location at 3060 Pelham Parkway.

“Interior plans have been submitted and approved,” Miller said, adding he is “waiting on exterior plans.” Once all sets of plans have been received, reviewed and approved, Harbor Freight will receive a business license and begin constructing the new store.

“We should see something in a few weeks,” Miller said. “They are coming.”

Harbor Freight will move into the old Mi-Pueblo Supermarket location, which has sat empty since the grocery store relocated to a larger location a few hundred feet away in the spring of 2013.

Founded in 1977, Harbor Freight Tools is known for their wide selection of products, from tools to automotive needs to lawn care supplies, and “ridiculously low prices,” according to the company’s website.

The new Pelham location will be the seventh in the state and the first in Shelby County, with other locations in Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Dothan and Huntsville.

More information about Harbor Freight Tools can be found on the company’s website, Harborfreight.com.
