Helen Jean Holloway Moore passed away to be with her Savior and loved ones on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. Born Oct. 9, 1936, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of John Alvis and Clara Ethel Holloway.
She was a graduate of Itawamba AHS and married her high school sweetheart, L.C. Moore, on Jan. 9, 1954.  She was employed as a homemaker and office administrator for Aronov Reality until retirement in 1989.  She and L.C. moved back to the Amory area to relax and spoil grandchildren who came to visit. Moving to Alabaster in 2009, she became closer to family living in the Birmingham area.  She worshipped and served as a member of Southside Baptist Church.  The passions in her life were her husband, sons, grandchildren and family.  Her hobbies were cooking, needlework, homemaking and bargain hunting.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff David (Kathryn) of Alabaster and Joseph Murray of Gillette, Wyo.; sister, Thera Comer of Smithville; grandchildren, Phillip and Amelia, Adam and Caitlin, Jon, Suzanne and Cody; great-granddaughter, Maggie; and many nieces and nephews. These were the joy and comfort to her life in the end.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.C.; brother, Harold Holloway; and daughter-in-law, Joanna Moore.
A funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. J.D. Davis officiating.  Burial followed in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Phillip, Adam, Suzanne, Jon and Cody Moore, and nephew, Patrick Holloway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund at JDRF.org.
