Man arrested in connection to assault at Reddy Ice

PELHAM—A Birmingham man was arrested on assault charges stemming from an Aug. 28 incident at Reddy Ice on County Road 52 West in Pelham.
At approximately 6:50 a.m. the Pelham Police Department responded to a call regarding an altercation at Reddy Ice. According to an Aug. 28 news release from the Pelham Police Department, the altercation was between the caller and his uncle over an ongoing work-related dispute. Both men were employees of Hendrix Ice, a distributor of Reddy Ice, the Pelham Police Department said.
Bradstreet Lewis Norris, 44, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, a Class C felony. According to the arrest warrant, Norris allegedly “did… commit the crime of assault 2nd degree…with intent to cause physical injury to another person… by means of a deadly weapon.”
According to the Pelham Police Department, Norris allegedly struck the victim in the head with a carpenter’s hammer.
The victim sustained injuries to the forehead, however the injuries did not appear life threatening, the Pelham Police Department said. He was treated at the scene by Pelham Fire Medics and stated he would travel to a local emergency room for further treatment.
Norris was arrested on Aug. 28 and placed in the Shelby County Jail. He was released on the same day after posting the $10,000 bond.
Norris is scheduled to appear before Judge Dan Reeves for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
