MONTEVALLO—Jason Peterson, Montevallo’s newest city council member, took the oath of office—issued by Judge Bruce Green of the Montevallo municipal court—during a ceremony at city hall on Sept. 3.

“He’s been very civically engaged over the last several years,” Mayor Hollie Cost said, noting she was “excited” to have Peterson on board.

“He has been coming to council meetings regularly and supporting the community,” Cost said.

Peterson is the council representative for District 4 in Montevallo. Peterson will serve the remainder of Don Hughes’ term, which ends in November of 2016, following Hughes’ resignation due to hearing problems.

Hughes attended the ceremony and offered his congratulations and support to Peterson.
