PELHAM—A Bluff Park woman was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of meth and other drugs at the Pelham Walmart on Aug. 30.

The Pelham Police Department responded to a “suspicious person call” at the 2181 Pelham Parkway on Aug. 30 and arrested Mary Olivia Latham, 26, on one charge of manufacturing meth, two charges of drug possession, including meth, and one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

“We came in contact with her on a call, we were able to identify some of the narcotics and some of the charges,” Pelham Police Deputy Chief Larry Palmer said, noting the responding Pelham Police officer “noticed some things in plain view” and alerted the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force.

According to arrest warrants, Latham was allegedly in possession of wet methamphetamine, one-half gram of “ice style methamphetamine,” one Vyvance pill, a prescription medication for ADHD, one Xanax pill, a prescription anti-anxiety medication and “an amount of marijuana for personal use.”

“When we get something like this, we normally reach out to the Task Force who will assist us,” Palmer said, adding the case is a “joint venture” between the Pelham Police Department and the SCDETF.

Latham was arrested and placed in the Shelby County Jail on Aug. 30. She is facing two felony drug charges for manufacture of meth and possession of meth and prescription medications, and two misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. If found guilty of all charges, Latham could face up to 36-and-a-half years in prison.

Latham is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $107,000. She is scheduled to appear before Judge Dan Reeves for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
