Fultondale

Lora McCollum Johnston of Fultondale was born Sept. 27, 1919, and passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the age of 94. Lora was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ormond A. Johnston; and her parents, Mollie Box and Byrd McCollum of Eldridge.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Betty Fulton (Allen) of Montevallo, Shirley Hall (Jerome) of Gardendale and Wanda Tucker (Steve) of Northport; son, Thomas Glenn Johnston (Linda) of Sterrett; grandchildren, Rhonda Cubbedge of Harahan, La., Lynn Morgan (Charlie) of Atlanta, Ga., Brian Johnston (Heather R.) of Westover and Andrea Sligh (Scott) of Fairhope; great-grandchildren Lily, Isabel and Evvie Morgan, Jake and Zack Johnston, Sarah Kate and Nathan Sligh; special thanks to relatives and friends George Aplin, Mary Roby, Denise Harris and Betty McCollum; her caregivers with Alabama Hospice of Birmingham, Tonya Hill, Eva Bolar and Sharon Jones.
Visitation were held Sept. 2 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6-8 p.m. followed by chapel services on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. Interment followed in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery in Fultondale. Minister Larry Alexander will officiate the service.
