PELHAM—The First Baptist Church of Pelham is offering adults an opportunity to continue their spiritual growth and education through Discipleship Training this fall.

One of the responsibilities of the church is to “help people grow in their faith,” FBC Pelham Administrative Pastor Don Dixon explained. That is the goal of Discipleship Training, which consists of a number of classes covering “multitudes of different topics.”

“There’s always something for everybody,” Dixon said. “We have groups for women, groups for men, coed groups.”

Each class lasts between six to 13 weeks, and topics cover everything from prayer and Bible study to leadership and parenting. Once one session of classes end, a new session covering new topics begins, Dixon said.

“We try to look at the environment of our church and what their needs are,” Dixon said, noting the classes are “topical and practical” and chosen to meet the needs of the FBC Pelham congregation.

Right now, FBC Pelham has seven classes held every Wednesday night and seven classes held on Sunday nights. Dixon highlighted several of this session’s offerings, including a leadership course based on the life of Moses, a study of evangelist, author and founder of Living Proof Ministries Beth Moore, an in-depth book study of the Book of Hebrews, a class on prayer and an course examining how the younger generations perceive the church.

“It’s just designed for them to grow in their faith, and that’s the primary focus,” Dixon said, noting courses related their subject matter to “every day life.”
