HARPERSVILLE—Bigman’s Barbecuue, Seafood and Steaks in Harpersville played host to famous visitors in June, when Troy Landry—a main character on the reality series “Swamp People”—came to eat in the restaurant.

“Troy and one of his boys were up here in June,” Kenneth Smith, owner of Bigman’s said. “They came in and ate and hung around for a little while.”

Smith, who said the men were “real nice,” noted that the famous alligator hunters actually ordered steaks for their meal.

The restaurant has another link to the Louisiana natives, who provide both farm raised and wild caught crawfish and alligator for the restaurant.

The restaurant, which opened three years ago, sells “from 10 to 20” orders of alligator a day, almost 30-pounds a week, Smith approximated.

However, the restaurants most-ordered dish is the catfish, Smith said.

Bigman’s offers an extensive menu including hamburgers, fried bologna sandwiches, fried green tomatoes, chili, ribs, loaded potatoes, steaks and a variety of seafood. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
