PELHAM—Join Oak Mountain State Park in welcoming fall with the fourth annual Fall Festival on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“It was something we wanted to do for people this time of year,” Adam Sample, acting superintendent of Oak Mountain State Park, said of the annual festival.

The Fall Festival will offer family-friendly games and activities at the Dogwood and Lakeside pavilions, from fall favorites such as hayrides and bobbing for apples, to face painting and cake-walk.

“We wanted something family oriented,” Sample said. “We do try and cater to the kids.”

Food and refreshments from McAllister’s Deli and snow cones will be available throughout the festival, Sample said.

Additionally, many of the park’s user groups will be in attendance to spread awareness of the various activities that take place in the park, such as the Alabama Wildlife Center, the astrological society, a geocaching group, BUMP biking group and horseback riding groups, Sample explained.

“It’s a time our user groups in the park can get their information out,” Sample said. “(They can) meet and greet and get their message out.”

Admission to the Oct. 4 Fall Festival is free with the Oak Mountain State Park entry fee. Many activities are free, and some cost one ticket, which can be purchased for “a dollar a piece,” Sample said.
