Jewel Ray Winslett, age 77, of Montevallo passed away at his home on Sept. 13. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Jessie Winslett; and his brothers, Leroy and Jimmy Winslett.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Dee Winslett; his daughter, Ranay Lucas; his son, Greg Winslett.  He is also survived by his sister “Sister” Hyde and his brother, Billy Winslett along with five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Ray was a retired electrician and also served several years in the U. S. Army.  He was a devoted family man and enjoyed puzzles, carpentry, spray painting, Braves baseball and Auburn football.

There was a visitation for Ray on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 10 :00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Wilton, and his funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m.  Burial was in Montevallo City Cemetery.  Services were officiated by Bro. Tom Hammett and Bro. Jim Thompson.
