The Cornerstone Christian Chargers took some lumps in a 40-22 road loss to Springwood on Sept. 19.

In addition to the loss, the Chargers lost two starting linemen, including Jeremy Saunders to what head coach Tim Smith said he thought was a broken leg.

Despite the loss, Smith said he was proud of his team’s effort.

“The kids really fought,” he said. ‘They played so hard, and would not quit.”

Cade Adams led the Chargers’ running game, rushing for 91 yards, while Quartez Walker posted 55 yards and three touchdowns. Ian Briggs threw for 111 yards, while Wesley Brown had 11 tackles in the contest.

The Chargers return home to face Ashford in a big region matchup on Sept. 26.
