Billy R. Legg, aged 77, of Montevallo, AL died on Sept. 25. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Linda McGiboney Legg: a brother, Joe Legg; and a sister, Janette Prescott. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bridges Legg; four step-sons, Joe and Tom (Glenda) Smitherman of Montevallo, Scott (Dedra) Smitherman of Helena, and Clay (Stephanie) Smitherman of Birmingham, as well as a brother, Jacky Legg (Yvonne) of Brantley, AL, and three sisters, Betty Coon of Elba, AL, Joyce Aman of Blairsville, GA, and Carolyn (John) Kilcrease of Harvest, AL. He also had five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Bill was a loyal employee of Southern Railway for over 41 years. After his retirement, he devoted much of his time as a member of the Montevallo Arbor Board and to the Shelby County Master Gardeners.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Montevallo on Sunday September 28 at 2:00 PM.
