ALABASTER – A low-hanging power line has closed a portion of Smokey Road in Alabaster, according to Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Deputies closed one lane of Smokey Road at about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 due to low-hanging power lines in the area near Meadow View Elementary School.

“Deputies are present and working to assist drivers in the area,” read a sheriff’s office press release. “Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously and seek alternate routes until the roadway is open again.”

The lane closure is the only traffic-related issue the sheriff’s office was working on Oct. 14 after a night of severe thunderstorms in the area.
