Monster Walk is back, bigger and better than ever! The highly anticipated family friendly and safe way to trick or treat on Main Street in Columbiana will be Halloween, Oct. 31, from 4-5:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Columbiana Merchants and Professionals Association, this year promises to be the biggest and best Monster Walk ever!
Regions Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President Jimmy Henderson is 2014 Monster Walk chair. Assisted by wife Rebekah and Lion’s President Buster Timmons, pastor of Columbiana United Methodist Church, Monster Walk has some new twists. In addition to the traditional two treat lines that go from business to business from the old Shelby County Courthouse down Main Street to CUMC and up from the Shelby County Reporter back to the courthouse, new additions have been made: new game stations, food donations and two Halloween carnivals at the Methodist and Baptist churches.
During Monster Walk, two stations have been added: Games with prizes and a tattoo stop mid-North Main Street and face painting mid-South Main Street. More businesses than ever have agreed to give out candy as their way to give back to the Columbiana community.
First the first time, newly formed Columbiana Lion’s Club will be collecting canned goods for the Columbiana Food Bank at CUMC. Children and adults are encouraged to bring a canned, non-perishable item for the food bank as we enter the holiday season. Lions will be on hand to collect the items.
Both Columbiana United Methodist and First Baptist churches will have carnivals on Oct. 31. Get your candy at Monster Walk and then go to the Methodist church from 4-5:30 p.m. where you can get your face painted and win prizes as you play ring toss, bean bag toss, go fishing and more. The CUMC youth will have their annual “Punkin’ Chunkin’” fundraiser where you get to toss three pumpkins for $1. The Baptist church JAMboree Family Fun Fest will be from 5-7 p.m. with free hot dogs, homemade chili, games and candy.
Come to Columbiana from 4-7 p.m. and spend your Halloween night at Monster Walk.
