Hope falls to Central Christian

A season marred by injuries has finally come to a close for the Hope Christian Eagles.
The Eagles fell to the Cusaders, 46-12 in a road contest.
The Eagles posted 112 yards rushing and 104 yards passing. Dillon Thompson tossed for 89 yards and ran for 39, while Cameron Barnett led the team receiving with 66 yards, while Jon Misso had 12 tackles and Joseph Patton had six.
The Eagles’ first score came when Thompson hit Barnett for a 35-yard touchdown pass early in the first, and the Eagles scored again in the fourth quarter when Juan Cuellar broke a 25-yard touchdown run.
Head coach Tony Nafe said he was proud of him team for battling through the setbacks they faced all season.
“With all the injuries, we were really cobbling a team together tonight,” he said. “We had seven more starters (out). It was brutal. (They) played with so much heart. We were still fighting at the end. From a heart perspective, this is probably the best team I’ve ever coached.”
The Eagles finished the year 7-4.
