ALABASTER – Creek View Elementary School students memorized every word of the theme songs for each military branch over the past few weeks, and honored Alabaster’s veterans during a pair of Nov. 7 ceremonies.

The first ceremony of the day was geared toward parents and veterans, while the second performance was held for the school’s student body. During both performances, members of the school’s third-grade choir sang patriotic songs such as “Thankful for the USA,” “Bless our Troops” and “My Country tis of Thee.” Several members of the choir also spoke to the crowd, explaining the different branches of the military and the history of Veterans Day.

At the end of the program, the students invited all veterans and active-service military to stand as the choir sang the theme songs of the military branches.
