Alabaster woman charged with felony identity theft

ALABASTER – A 33-year-old Alabaster woman is facing a felony identity theft charge after she allegedly stole identity documents from a female victim.

The Alabaster Police Department arrested Jantifer Rose Evans, who lists an address in the 200 block of Brentwood Drive in Alabaster, on Nov. 22 and charged her with one felony count of identity theft.

The arrest came after Evans allegedly did “obtain, record or access identifying information that would assist in accessing financial resources, obtaining identification documents or obtaining benefits of the victim,” according to her arrest warrant. The warrant listed a Nov. 22 offense date.

As of Nov. 26, Evans was being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Identity theft is a Class C felony. If convicted of the crime, Evans could face up to 10 years in prison.

Evans is scheduled to appear in the Shelby County Courthouse for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 18 at 8:30 a.m., according to court records.
