Thirty kindergarten students at Kingwood Christian School presented the story of the birth of Jesus to a packed house on Dec. 18.

The costumes were realistic and the children knew their parts to perfection. It was a real blessing to see and hear these youngsters perform.

All of our Christmas memories are important, and this lovely little program was a true heartfelt occasion.

Kingwood is a long established private school in our community.

The Rev. Ron Cox, longtime former pastor who many of our citizens will remember, started Kingwood School in 1979.

Grades were added each year. The school graduates about 40 students each year. No one is just a number but rather the recipient of a safe and secure Christian environment.

Care for the community and each other is expected each day.

Non-denominational basic Bible values and truths are taught.

Kingwood serves nursery through 12th grade and has rigid requirements for admission.

Concert band, marching band, Christmas parade, visits to Shelby Ridge, chorus specials, fine arts events, Operation Christmas, Toys for Tots, Books for Belize, Manna Ministries and the canned food ministry are just a few of the activities at Kingwood.

In addition they have a sports program that has won numerous titles and awards.

Kingwood is known for the many scholarships received by students each year and was selected by Shelby Living magazine as the “Best of the Best” private schools. National Beta membership, PTO Star Students and lots of awards along with a positive Christian attitude make “Kingwood” a well known name.

Ruth Gray, principal at Kingwood for her fourth year, loves her job and can talk on and on about the values that Kingwood has to offer.
