PELHAM—Looking to start off the year by doing something good? Stop by the Pelham Public Library to donate blood on Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Pelham Public Library is once again partnering with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive in front of the library.

“We’ve done this several times with them,” Pelham Public Library Adult Services Coordinator David Smith said. “I think we have a pretty good turn out (each year).”

The LifeSouth bloodmobile will be parked in the library’s front parking lot beginning at 9 a.m. on Jan. 7, and no registration or sign-up is required in order to participate.

“Anybody just driving by can stop and give blood,” Smith said. “I strongly encourage them to.”

Smith said he hopes to see another year of strong participation from Pelham residents. Donors in the Jan. 7 blood drive can receive a free cholesterol screening and will also get a complimentary t-shirt.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and present identification. Sixteen-year-olds may participate with written parental consent. For more information, call (888) 795-2707 or visit Lifesouth.org.
