COLUMBIANA – A 40-year-old Alabaster woman will spend the next three years on probation after she pleaded guilty to using marijuana and methadone while she was pregnant in 2013.

Rebecca Anna Dee Boothe, who lists an address in the 700 block of U.S. 31 South in Alabaster, pleaded guilty to one felony count of chemical endangerment of a child during a Jan. 5 hearing at the Shelby County Courthouse.

A Shelby County grand jury indicted Boothe on the charge in August 2014, claiming Boothe exposed her unborn child to “marijuana and/or methadone” while she was pregnant with the child in September 2013. Boothe was arrested on the charges on Oct. 10, 2013, and was released from the Shelby County Jail two days later after posting a $15,000 bond.

After Boothe pleaded guilty to the charge, Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves originally sentenced her to five years in prison, but suspended the sentence to three years of supervised probation.

While on probation, Boothe must submit to and pass random drug and alcohol screens. She had no prior adult felony convictions, according to court documents.
