‘Jon Harrison’

By JON HARRISON/Staff Writer

My name is Jon Harrison and I am a native of Shelby County, Alabama and a new Staff Reporter at the Shelby County Reporter. I graduated from Shelby County High School and then from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

I chose a career in community journalism because I want to give back to the county and community that gave me so much growing up and made me the person that I am today.

The communities in Shelby County are some of the most diverse in the state, and I find each ones dynamic extremely interesting. I believe that there is so much good that happens in this county and I am so excited to be a part of an organization that tells the stories of people, events, and places that make Shelby County such an incredible place to live.

I promise to always be straight forward and present only facts in all of my work and to do my best to keep you, the public, informed on the community issues and happenings that you find important.

Whether it is a positive or negative lesson, I believe you learn something from everyone you meet in life and to me there is no better way to meet people in the community than being the journalist that tells their stories.

I also believe that you should leave a place better than you found it and that is what I hope to achieve in this position, to make Shelby County a better place and its communities stronger one story at a time.

If there are any community events, issues or stories you know about and feel need to be covered please do not hesitate to email me at jon.harrison@shelbycountyreporter.com or call at 205-669-3131 ext. 515
