Stanley S. Swiney, age 96, of Chelsea, died Sunday, Jan. 11.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Union UMC with Rev. Steve Wallace and Rev. Mike Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14 at the church. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.
He was a member of Local 91 Steamfitter and Plumber where he was the oldest member. He served in World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Swiney is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Catherine Swiney and a son, Donald Stanley Swiney.
He is survived by his children, Roger F. Swiney (Debbie) and Sandra Cooper (Waylon); grandchildren, Roger F. Swiney, Jr., Rhonda Trott (Raymond), Cathy Swiney, Donald Alan Cooper, David Cooper (Dawn), Shea Dudley (Bob), and Brooke Swiney; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; good friend and companion for over 20 years, Lois McManus; and numerous additional family and friends.
