The Grebel Center for Dance will be hosting its 7th annual Valentine’s Day themed fundraiser on Feb. 8.

This year’s theme is Dessertissements- A Valentine in Paris. The event will include Parisian inspired café tables lining the walls and sidewalks, and proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for ballet and dance students in financial need and also for outreach programs that are offered for free.

The event is sponsored and directed by the Alabama Youth Ballet Guild.

The event will include dancing, wine, champagne, lemonade and desserts. A silent auction will also be available for anyone interested. There will also be door prizes and a “Kids Corner” with a cakewalk.

After bidding is closed attendees will move into Studio 1 where the Alabama Youth Ballet will perform a preview of their spring recital Aurora’s Wedding and a free tango lesson for couples will also be offered. Bids will be tallied during the performance and lesson and the winners will be announced once the performances are over.

Chandler Champion, the current Miss Alabama, will emcee the event. Champion is a former student of the Grebel Center for Dance and attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

Tickets to Dessertissements are $20 per couple and $12 for singles. Children ages five to ten will be $8 and for Children ages four and under admission is free.
