PELHAM- Pelham High School crowned a new Miss PHS Saturday night, Jan. 24, at the Pelham High School auditorium.

Pelham senior Presley Scherer was wearing a bright yellow evening gown as her name was called as the winner of the pageant.

“It feels amazing,” said Scherer. “I never thought anything like this would happen to me, so I’m really excited.”

This was Scherer’s fourth time to be in the Miss PHS pageant and she said the experience was a memorable one.

“The best part about this was being able to do this with all my friends just being able to experience something so great,” said Scherer.

Only seniors can take home the title of Miss PHS, but there is an elite contestant selected from every other grade.  The winner of the ninth grade elite winner was Ryleigh Chambers, the 10th grade elite winner was Patria Gatson and the 11th grade elite winner was Emily Trechon.

Fourth alternate went to Erin Krebs, third alternate to Kayla Waters, Tatum Ball took home second alternate and first alternate was Jenna Bennett.

Emily Jackson was voted Miss Congeniality and Mackenzie White was named Most Photogenic.

The contestants voted on “Mr. Escort,” and senior Connor Atkinson took home the title for the second year in a row.

Current Miss Shelby County and Pelham High School graduate Amanda Ford was a judge for the pageant.

“It has been such an awesome experience being back,” said Ford. “It’s been great just to be back at Pelham High School where it all started for me in the pageant world. All of the girls did so well and I was so thankful to be a part of it and to be back here at Pelham High School.”
