Suspect arrested in Homewood following domestic dispute in Chelsea

CHELSEA – A domestic violence suspect wanted in connection with an incident in Chelsea was arrested in Homewood Jan. 30 after eluding Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies earlier that evening, according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Department press release.

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the 20 block of Autry Drive in Chelsea on Friday, Jan. 30. Deputies found one person with non life-threatening injuries, while the suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle, according to the statement.

“Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and attempted to elude deputies,” the release stated. “A pursuit ensued and efforts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful. Deputies discontinued the pursuit with the knowledge of the driver’s identity after it continued into Jefferson County. “

After observing the vehicle and driver in Homewood, Homewood police arrested the driver.

Shelby County investigators will be obtaining warrants for a number of criminal charges, and more information will be released after the suspect is booked into jail. This release will be updated with arrest information after the suspect is booked into jail.
