HELENA–Maniac Cycles in Helena has been in business for close to a year and they want to be known for two things, their reasonable prices and ability to help riders in the community.

With the spring season quickly approaching, Maniac Cycles owner Warren Smith wants riders to be safe on the road and wants to offer customers something that most bike shops can’t offer, and that’s low prices.

Smith has been repairing engines of all kinds since the age of 14. He grew up in Huntsville on a 1,080 acre farm and various equipment around the farm constantly needed attention.

“We’re trying to keep our prices as low as possible,” said Smith. “I do mount and balance tires, do a little bit of everything and we’re not make specific. I’ve got everything from Harley’s, Ducati’s to Kawasaki’s in here. I’ve been doing this a long time and I love doing it.”

The shop is located off Highway 17 and was formally a dog grooming shop before Smith moved in and made it a repair shop on April 15, 2014.

One of the things Smith is proud of is the fact that he will give free advice to any riders having trouble with their bikes or ATV’s.

Most repair shops will charge a diagnostic fee and Smith thinks that’s wrong and advice should be free.

Smith also added that he works on four-wheelers, ATV’s, UTV’s and golf carts when people are having trouble with them.

Smith chose the Helena location because he liked the fact there were no other bike repair shops around.

“I liked the motorcycle traffic on this stretch of asphalt out here and there’s no motorcycle shops around this area,” said Smith. “The people of Helena have just been great to me.”
