HOOVER – The finished products of several construction projects at Greystone Golf and Country Club are nearly ready to be unveiled and utilized.

“We’re getting close to completion on three of the projects,” General Manager Calvin Bolling said during a Feb. 13 interview. “The two buildings are the Golf Operations Center and the Golf Teaching Center, and also, our Founders Golf Course is completing its renovations as well.”

Located next to the Founders Clubhouse, the 9,500-square-foot Golf Operations Center will hold golf carts, laundry, bag storage, club maintenance and major storage, Bolling said.

“The Golf Teaching Center, on the range, will have three hitting bays with all the latest technology to analyze golf swings, small conference area, where Mark Blackburn, our director of instruction is going to be,” Bolling said. “It’s brand new.”

Bolling said both golf centers would be open within three weeks, and the Founders course will be completed in about two weeks.

Renovations to the Founders course include the greens, redoing all of the bunkers and adding a few tee boxes in preparation for the 2016 Regions Tradition golf tournament.

An event called Cocktails at the Plaza will be held March 6 from 6-10 p.m. at the new Founders Plaza to mark the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of the Golf Operations building and plaza.

The event will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres and live music.

Construction at Greystone started in July 2014 and will total about $5 million when completed.

“I think it will definitely enhance the look and make it a more functional club,” Bolling said of the projects. “When everything is completed, we will get the club a brand new fitness center, brand new casual dining room with a state-of-the-art golf teaching center. It should be great for everyone.”
