HOOVER – Hoover City Schools will not dismiss early on Feb. 20, “despite any reports you may have heard,” according to an automated phone message sent to parents at about 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 20.

The message stated the school system has no plans to dismiss early due to inclement winter weather, but said all after-school and extended-day programs have been canceled for the day.

According to the National Weather Service office in Calera, Shelby County is under a winter weather advisory due to a “very cold air mass” possibly producing a wintry mix and possible sleet and snow.
