School systems, some government offices closed on Feb. 25

Several schools and government offices have announced closings for Wednesday, Feb. 25, due to the threat of severe winter weather.

School Systems

-The Hoover, Pelham, Alabaster and Shelby County school systems have canceled classes on Feb. 25 due to the threat of severe winter weather, the systems announced on Feb. 24.

All school offices will be closed throughout the day, as the National Weather Service has predicted as much as 4 inches of snow could fall in Shelby County and the Birmingham metropolitan area on Feb. 25.

-Indian Springs School has also canceled its classes on Feb. 25.

The University of Montevallo will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 25. The National Weather Service has currently placed the University’s service area under a winter storm warning for Wednesday. The Anna Irvin Cafeteria will remain open for regular hours during this time. Additionally, the University administration will continue to monitor the weather regarding possible travel issues during the morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 26.

-All campuses of Jefferson State Community College will be closed on Feb. 25.

 

Government offices

-All non-emergency city of Hoover facilities, including the Municipal Center, library, Recreation Center and Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and will  re-open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26.

-The Hoover Municipal Court will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and  re-open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26.

-Due to the Winter Storm Warning and the possibility of hazardous roadways, all City of Helena non-emergency and administrative offices will be closed this Wednesday, Feb. 25.

-All Pelham city offices will be closed on Feb. 25.

-The Alabaster Water Board will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 25 due to inclement weather.  For emergencies, please call 205-326-9090.
