School systems announce delayed starts for Feb. 26

School systems have announced delayed start times for Thursday, Feb. 26 due to the threat of poor travel conditions. The following school systems will be delayed.

-Hoover City Schools announced a system-wide, two-hour delayed start for Thursday, Feb. 26.

According to the school system, all schools and school offices will open two hours late, and all buses will run on a delayed schedule.

The delayed opening follows a system-wide closure due to the threat of severe winter weather on Feb. 25.

-Due to poor driving conditions in parts of our service area, the University of Montevallo will delay opening until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26.

As always, we encourage everyone to monitor a good source of information for weather and road conditions, to be prepared for cold-weather driving, and to allow plenty of time for safe travels to campus. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our primary concern. Please check your local forecast in the morning and use your best judgment if conditions are dangerous in your area.

-Shelby County Schools will have a two-hour delayed opening for Thursday, Feb. 26.

-Pelham City Schools will delay opening by two hours on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Due to continued winter weather concerns, Alabaster City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for Thursday, Feb. 26. Please see our website for more info.

Indian Springs School will open two hours late on Thursday, Feb. 26, due to the threat of icy road conditions. Buses will run two hours late. Classes will begin precisely at 10 a.m. with F period.
