FROM STAFF REPORTS

COLUMBIANA–
Our command staff attended a meeting with the Shelby County Emergency Management Agency (EMA). Based on reports gathered from the meeting, Shelby County, especially North Shelby Co., should expect ice, sleet and some snow.

It is believed that the mid to southern portions of Shelby County will receive ice/sleet and little to no snow.

There are several sleet reports coming in now that includes Highway 459 at 280,
U.S. 280 Westover
 and Highway 42 in Calera.

As rain and sleet come in today, the temperature is expected to continue to drop. Shelby County is expected to reach freezing temperatures between 7-9 p.m.

However, it is believed that ground temperature will remain above freezing. Nonetheless, hazardous road conditions are possible, but unpredictable.

The County Highway Department is already applying calcium chloride to bridges and hills.
