CHELSEA—Stop by the Chelsea Middle School football field between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, for the Blue and White Spring Blowout, an evening of fun, games, music and fun.

Hosted by the Chelsea Middle School PTO, the inaugural edition of the event will feature all the fun of a carnival, from food trucks and vendors to a DJ, fireworks, games and rides.

“It’s going to be like a traditional fall festival,” PTO President April Bower said.

In addition to the carnival, there will also be a silent auction.

“We’ve got anything from salon packages to tennis packages,” Bower said, adding there will also be camping trips, car washes, home decor items and even a football signed by Nick Saban up for auction.

Money raised by the Blue and White Blowout will support continued technology initiatives at CHMS.

“We spent quite a few thousand (dollars) this year updating technology in the classroom,” Bower said, noting the PTO is looking to add to the number of Chromebook computers at the school.

“(Principal Andrew Gunn) is really into technology,” PTO member Traci Griffin said. “He wants us to stay on the forefront of that.”

The funds will also help the PTO provide the teachers with materials for the classroom and “whatever is requested,” Griffin said.

The Blue and White Blowout offers fun for all ages, and is a community wide event, Bowers explained, adding, “Anyone is welcome.”

Admission is $15 prior to the event, $20 at the door and free for children four and younger. Additionally, an adult can gain free entry to the event with the purchase of an accompanying child’s ticket. Tickets are available at Mt Laurel Elementary School, Forest Oaks Elementary School and Chelsea Middle School. For more information, email Chelseamiddlepto.com.
