NORTH SHELBY—Stylish comfort and quality are top priorities at Highland Shoe Company. Located off of U.S. 280 on Doug Baker Boulevard, the brand new shop features up-to-the minute fashions in footwear and accessories.

Owned by Chelsea resident, Angie Navarre, Highland Shoe Company opened its doors on March 2.

“Every girl loves shopping,” Navarre said with a laugh. “It’s just always been a dream of mine to own my own business.”

The shop carries shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories, all hand-picked by Navarre to fit every age, style and budget.

“I want to carry something for everybody in every price range,” Navarre said. “I want to dress the mom and the teen… I want my customers to be happy.”

Shoppers can browse the latest styles in handbags, purses and clutches from designers such as SR2, Sandra Roberts and Hobo. Navarre also carries a selection of fun, light-weight and colorful clothing from the likes of Barbara Gerwit, Britt Ryan, Blythe and Jude Connally.

“It’s cool, it’s comfortable, it’s for anybody,” Navarre said.

However, shoes steal the show at Highland Shoe Company. With fresh, new styles for the spring season, there’s something for everyone. The boutique carries strappy sandals, comfy flip flops and platform wedges from brands such as Antelope, Choclat Blu, Jack Rodgers and Cordani.

“A pair of shoes can make or break an outfit,” Navarre said. “‘Cinderella is proof that the right pair of shoes can change your life,’ I love that quote.”

Customers can also feel good about shopping at Highland Shoe Company, several of the lines carried donate money to good causes, such as Akola Project, which helps give women job training and a steady income in impoverished areas of Africa.

“I wanted to carry the line because I felt like, in a small way, I was helping to make a difference in the world,” Navarre said.

Highland Shoe Company is located at 250 Doug Baker Boulevard, Suite 200. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information can be found on the Highland Shoe Company Facebook page, Facebook.com/Highlandshoecompany.
