MONTGOMERY – The Kingwood baseball Lions traveled to Montgomery on March 19 to take on rival Eastwood in a game that turned lopsided in a hurry. Kingwood sprinted out to a 10-run lead in the top half of the first inning to essentially end the game before it began. They won the game 10-1.

Buddy Kittrell started on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings before he was relieved and replaced by Alec Calhoun, who closed the game out for Kingwood. While the pitching was superb for the Lions, they could have given up a number of runs and still been in the clear due to the otherworldly first inning Kingwood experienced. The Lions made it through the entire batting lineup without accumulating a single out. All nine batters reached base safely to start the game. It was only when Kittrell stepped up to the plate for the second time in the first inning that Eastwood was able to get the first out of the game on the scoreboard. Even then however, Kittrell still drove in Garrett Landry who was on third, which made the score 9-0 at the time.

Eastwood added a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning, however the damage was already done and the Lions advanced to 12-6-2 on the season with the 10-1 win.

Dillon Calhoun and Corey Robinson both led the way for Kingwood from the plate with two hits and one RBI apiece. Kittrell, Landry, Garrett Jones, Wyatt Baker and Shiloh West also registered hits on the day.
