Imagine a painting with texture and depth that draws the eye inward and causes the viewer to pause and gaze.

Dimensional artwork invites the viewer on a journey, to travel the landscape of a piece and—if it’s a good one—to be caught in its spell.

The Shelby County Arts Council is pleased to host the gallery opening, “To Depart is to Arrive – A Journey Through Dimensions,” featuring Rik Lazenby and other gifted artists.

Join us for a free event on April 10, 6-8 p.m., to experience dimensional art while listening to acclaimed Jazz Pianist Choko Aiken.

As a member of Artists On The Bluff and owner of Lazenby’s Decorative Arts Studio, Inc., with over 30 years of experience as an art teacher and administrator at a local high school, Rik Lazenby has built quite a reputation as an artist and craftsman.

His work reflects that of one who values excellence, integrity and growth.

Lazenby is the kind of artist who continually pursues inventive and clever ways of integrating new materials into his artwork.

When this talented individual experiments with different finishes, the result is a stunning product that is visually rich and original.

In addition to Lazenby’s work, the exhibit will also feature artists Barry Graham, Deborah Ballog, Butch Oglesby, Darla Williamson, Catherine Shamblin, Andrew Jordan, Bill Sansing and Maria Paracca.

The gallery opening will be held on Friday, April 10, 6-8 p.m, and the exhibit will be on display April 13-30.
