The South Shelby Chamber presents Boots and Bow Ties at Douglas Manor on Thursday, April 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and you are invited!

The event will raise funds for the chamber scholarship fund given to deserving seniors in South Shelby County.

Students awarded scholarships in 2014 were: Karla Cardwell, Shelby County High School; Hydela Averett, Vincent High School; Tacarra Hawkins, Shelby County College and Career Center; Taylor Hyde, Chelsea High School; Mary Ferrell, Coosa Valley Academy; and Randall Hunt, Cornerstone Christain School.

“We are doing the golf tournament and the silent auction differently this year,” said SSCC Executive Director April Stone. “Douglas Manor is a gorgeous location and we really wanted to make this a fun ‘date night’ with piano playing, heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

All proceeds go toward our scholarship fund. Right now, we are able to award three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from the following high schools: SCHS, SCCCC, Chelsea, Vincent, Coosa Valley Academy and Cornerstone Christian School.”

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door.

Douglas Manor is located at 571 Chelsea Springs Road, Columbiana, Alabama 35051. Beverages will be provided by Alabama Crown and Avadian Credit Union is the event sponsor.

There will be a silent auction and live auction will be led by auctioneer, Mayor Stancil Handley.

Event committee members are: Jane Scott, ProForma Title and Closing; Linda Cook, Busy Hands Framing and Gifts; Gene Rowley, Leslie Bartlett, APH Radio; Barbara Zieba, Hampton Inn at Eagle Point; and SSCC Ambassadors.

To donate an auction item or service, please contact Stone at (205) 669-9075 or email Director@southshelbychamber.com.

Dr. Ben Smith, Smith Chiropractic, is the SSCC Chairman of the Board. Other board members are: Immediate Past Chair Donna Smelcer; Chair-Elect Daniel Holmes, Shelby County Newspapers; Vice-Chair of Finance Wayne Johnsey, Piggly Wiggly of Columbiana; Vice Chair of Governance Carol Bruser, University of Montevallo/Leadership Shelby County; and Vice Chair of Development Casey Morris, Snider’s Pharmacy/Ground Up Coffee and Smoothies.

All auction and ticket proceeds support the Shelby County Chamber/Johnny Lowe Scholarship Fund!

Put on your boots, bow ties and bid high! More money – more scholarships!
