The Fifth Annual Shelby County College and Career Center Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show will be Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SCCCC, 701 Highway 70, Columbiana, Ala. 35051.

The rain date is May 17. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.

The annual car show is a fundraiser for students’ expenses to attend National SkillsUSA. Each career technical school competes in district skills competitions.

The state winners have great expenses to attend national competitions as travel, food, materials for projects and lodging at approximately $1,000 per student.

This car show helps meets those costs! All proceeds benefit our students to compete within their trade; many will participate in the National SkillsUSA competition June 1915 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Gates open at 7:30 a.m. for contestants. Entrance fees are cars and trucks, $15, and motorcycles, $10. Antique to late model vehicles wanted!

Prizes given at 1:30 p.m. Trophies will be given for: Best of Show; Student Choice; Most Unique; Most Original; Classic Car Best in Class; Classic Car Best in Class Runner-up; Late Model Best in Class; Late Model Best in Class Runner-up; Classic Truck Best in Class; Late Model Truck Best in Class; Antique Truck Best in Class; Tractor Best of Show; Motorcycle Best of Show; Best in Class (4); and Corvair Best in Class.

The Vulcan Corvair Enthusiasts Club of Birmingham and Shelby County is scheduled to attend.

The Corvair club has been very supportive over the years to the SCCCC car show.

Other activities available this year are: Arts and crafts vendors; business vendors; space bounce; Pucker Powder; Kettle Korn; Steel City Pops; Big Man’s BBQ of Chelsea; music with Dale Scott DJ and more.

There will be a silent auction and items are needed! Please contact A.J. Miller with items to donate at (205) 541-9844.

Mark McCary, collision and repair instructor, and A.J. Miller are organizing the event.
