CHELSEA – Chelsea Middle School students will have a chance to throw food at each other and play in the mud this week to raise money for new classroom equipment.

On May 1, students can each pay $10 to participate in “Organized Chaos,” an annual school fundraiser to be held at the CHMS football field from 3-5 p.m.

“We let the kids just get completely nasty,” PTO President April Bower said. “It’s just an all-out messy day.”

The event will entail a chocolate syrup obstacle course crawl, mud pool, flour bombs, paint, eggs, whipped cream and more.

Eggs and plates of whipped cream will be available for $1 each.

“This year, we’ve added the color powder paint,” Bower said.

Organized Chaos has been held for 10 years to raise money for school-related needs.

Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will help the school purchase more technology for the classrooms, Bower said.

“They enjoy it,” Bower said of the students. “It’s just a fun, messy event.”

Bowers said participants should wear clothes they can get dirty in, including shoes.

Concessions will be available.

More volunteers are needed to work at the event. To volunteer, call Chelsea Middle School at 682-7210.
