Alabaster police holding free women’s self defense classes

ALABASTER – The Alabaster Police Department will look to help women defend themselves against potential dangers during several upcoming self-defense classes at Thompson High School.

Alabaster police officers Jamison Lee and Jeff Greene are both certified Rape Aggression Defense instructors, and will lead several self-defense training sessions for females 13 and older.

“All classes will have both highly trained and experienced Officers to ensure that each individual class participant receives the maximum benefit from their training experience,” read a police department release.

To complete the training, participants must put in nine total hours of training time. The department has broken each session into three-day, three-hour sessions and two-day, six- and four-hour sessions.

Classes will be available on the following dates and times:

-June 15 – June 17 (three-day class)

Morning class: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

-June 15 – June 17 (three-day class)

Evening class: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

June 18 – June 19 (two-day class)

June 18: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

June 19: 8 a.m. – noon

Students must attend class both days.

-June 22 – 24 (three-day class)

Morning class: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

-June 22 – 24 (three day class)

Evening class: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

-June 25 – June 26 (two-day class)

June 25: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

June 26: 8 a.m. – noon

Students must attend class both days.

-July 13 – June 15 (three-day class)

Morning Class: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

-July 13 – June 15 (three-day class)

Evening class: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Students must attend all three classes.

July 16 – July 17 (two-day class)

July 16: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

July 17: 8 a.m. – noon
