CHELSEA – Chelsea Middle School eighth graders Rachel Moore and Taylor Stafford walked away from the CHMS football field the afternoon of May 1 looking like they had participated in a school-wide food fight.

In a sense, they had, as they and nearly 400 of their classmates paid money to cover each other in eggs, whipped cream, powder paint and other commodities in “Organized Chaos,” an annual school fundraiser.

“It’s very messy and fun,” Moore said. “I’m going to be orange for days.”

Students each paid $10 to get messy with a chocolate syrup obstacle course crawl, mud pool, flour bombs, paint, eggs and whipped cream.

“It’s fun, but try not to get pegged in the ear with an egg,” sixth grader Jayden Barefield said. “Watch out.”

PTO President April Bower said the money raised from this year’s event––between $4,000 and $5,000––will go toward a P.A. system for the CHMS cafeteria and possibly for technological devices for the classrooms.

“The kids look forward to it,” Bower said. “They have fun.”
